giving numbers to the R1
Can we get some training on this at the meeting on 8/15?
When the R2, gives the R1 a player violation – how do we signal the numbers? I’m not finding this in our books. If player 9 was in the net – how do I signal that to the R1? of if player 16 was in the net? or player 27?
Yes, we will put this on our Training Queue and offer at the breakouts on 8/29.
There is not a chart in the Rules Books but we have posted a chart on our website under Members Area – “Education & Training”.

Always signal the player number to your R1. The R1 signals the number to the benches. If a coach asks you for the number you can show the number or just say it. The correct protocol is R2 to R1 to benches.
Signaling the number:
1. Remember the number you will be signaling should be able to be read from left to right from the perspective of the one receiving the number (so it will appear backwards to the one signaling).
2. Your right hand serves as your “base”. You begin with 1 – 5 on the right hand. Then for 6 – 9 you add the digits needed from your left hand. When you hit 10 it is a closed right fist. 11 – 15 is a closed right first and the necessary digits on your left hand. 16 – 19 will be your right hand closed fist (alone) followed by all five digits on your right hand and the necessary digits on your left hand. 20 is two digits on your right hand and a closed fist on your left hand. Repeat as you did in the teens.
I think once you look at the chart and then practice a little (in front of a mirror allows you to see the reflection and view of the one receiving the signal).
I hope this is helpful.
